I have found the Sundara Closed-Back to be particularly well suited to electronic music and acoustic recordings featuring guitar and vocals.
With electronic music, its speed, attack, and transient precision are outstanding. Sounds emerge from a silent background with remarkable clarity, making rhythmic passages incredibly engaging and energetic.
It is equally impressive with acoustic guitar and vocal recordings. The subtle metallic texture of guitar strings and the finest nuances of a singer’s breath and expression are reproduced with exceptional realism and transparency.
Being a closed-back design, however, it does have some limitations. Cymbal decay is not rendered as naturally or beautifully as with open-back headphones, and instrument separation, while good, is not its strongest characteristic.
I use it with an iFi ZEN DAC 3. One aspect that has impressed me most is how well it scales with improvements in the playback chain. Switching to a balanced cable, upgrading the USB cable between my computer and the DAC, and applying oversampling and digital filters have all resulted in audible improvements. The sound becomes progressively cleaner, faster, more transparent, and more refined, demonstrating that this headphone is capable of revealing improvements throughout the entire audio chain.
Very mid forward. Good, very clear, tight bass. Background instruments blurred and out of focus. Got and fitted the CustomCans damping mod. Vast improvement. Not perfect, but much better than before!
Very dark, Nothing like Sundara itself but very good bass capability.
Very nice sounding headphone...
